Art inquiry

This term we have been doing art for inquiry. We made a final piece of art for an auction. Here is a video that will explain all of my inquiry as well as my art journey.

Maths

This term I have been learning several different types of maths. Lately we have been learning about geometry including pentominoes, designs and tessellations. We do collaborative tasks on Monday, where we each have a different task or goal to complete each week with your group. We also made stratigie videos to explain how to do a math stratigie we learnt in our workshop. Here is my video.

River Protectors

Recently we have been on many trips which lead to us to being habitat heroes. We enjoyed the outdoors, looking at lots of wetlands and going to many rivers, creeks and streams. We have been most concerned with an area very close to our school. It is called Muddy Creek and it is one of our local wetlands.We would like to share our amazing plan with you. Here is what we would like to do if we won $500. We would spend it on....

Education 

Send letters to the Clive community.

Go to schools and workplaces to tell them how important water ways are

More education about where rubbish goes when thrown out 

Going around to all schools in Hawkes bay and telling them the importance of our wetlands

Every second month there'll be a rubbish clean up day 

Help for the creatures 

Nesting boxes

Pest traps

Some areas should have no fishing zones.

Find ill or sick fish and look after them.

Eeling should be banned in some areas or limited to one eel per catch and are only allowed to leave nets in for twelve hours.

We will work with the tree trust⭐️

keep the waterways clean

Including the community

Do a community day out to plant and clean.

Let everybody be aware of what's happening 

Let the school children help plant and clean muddy creek (our school borders on the Muddy Creek bank)

Make a trail so people can walk along the creek.

A Rubbish filter so no rubbish gets in muddy creek 

Predator protection

Stop cats and dogs from eating the birds 

We will put out mothballs because they don't like the smell and will keep away

Inquiry

This term we have learnt about waterways. Here are some photos of our learning in inquiry.

Reading

This term we have been reading dunger. We did edmodo tasks about the book. Here is an edmodo task.

Writing

This term we have been learning to write poems. We have written some poems for toitoi. Here is my poem for toitoi. My next steps are being more detailed.

P.E.

This term we have been learning netball skills. We learnt to pass and catch, balance and shoot goals.

Maths

This term we have been learning about fractions and decimals.

We were given workshops to choose from. The workshops were what we needed to do to help us learn. Here is a picture of one workshop. 

In kotahitanga we do can do tasks. They are to fill up time with maths when you don't have any workshops that day. Here is a picture of one of my can do tasks. 

Responsibility

This term I will try to show responsibility in these five things. 1. Being a leader. 2. Making my working area nice and neat. 3. Helping others. 4. Tidying up after once finished. 5. Being trustworthy .

Maths

EOTC

This term we had EOTC, 4 days of adventure. Here is a video about some events from EOTC.

Reading

This term we have been reading The Bold Ship Phenomenal for read aloud tasks. My highlight for reading is reading clearly and fluently. My next step is reading more difficult books.

Writing

This term we have been writing recounts, metaphor poems and doing our best handwriting. My highlight is finding new words and there meanings. My next step is adding even more detail.

Yasmine's swimming post

This term we have been doing swimming as one of our P.E activities. W.A.L.T: Compete in the interschools. My highlight for swimming is doing butterfly. My next step is doing long distance butterfly.

Yasmine's respect post

This term our value is respect. We show respect in our learning and to others. My highlight for respect is helping others in maths. My next steps are keeping my books really neat.
