Reading Term 4

I use the reading Eggspress app to practice my reading skills.

This page shows the place where you get lessons on this certain type of book.
You tap the numbers and they will take you to a lesson. The lessons are on a map and on the map is the book. You will be reading the book for the time you are on the map.

This term we were in Mrs Ward's technology group.





Something I did well was: getting the meaning of stakeholder 
first.

Something I could improve on is: thinking of other ideas.

Reading Term 4

WALT ask good questions to clarify our understanding and to find out information about a topic.

We did what erosion can cause.
We highlighted the words we didn't understand to clarify them.
Something I was good at was: asking questions to clarify.
My next steps are: highlighting ideas I didn't understand.

Writing Term 2:recount

It was early morning.A blaze of sun caught my eye.
Suddenly...BOOM! My sister had hurtled herself down 
the stairs.
"Yasmine yasmine,"she laughed."We are going to the mountains.""Bla Bla,"I 
scowled.
Vroom vroom.Flossy's car drove in our drive way.Flossy was my mums (Amelia) 
friend.
"Eleanorrrrrr!"screamed Sophie."Eleanor's here,Eleanor's here!"she yelled.A chorus 
of  noise rang out of Sophie: " Eleanor yay cool she's
awesome."
After mum had made the sandwiches we hopped in the cars and drove away 
( of course Sophie  hopped in the same car as Eleanor.)
 1 hour  later the road was closed because of a snow fall.Were we staying or leaving?Well we stayed.Flossy gave us a hot chocolate.
CHAPTER 2

Snow fell from the crooked witch hat  trees. It piled up like a mountain so high- that it 
could reach the sky. A barbed wire fence prickled with icy flakes.
A big pond lay flat in the middle with a crackled crack.Wrapped up warm in my coat
I could still fell the cold.
CHAPTER 3

We walked to a little hut." Let's build a snowman," I said. The snowmans snow 
balls grew bigger and bigger.Finally we finished.I got the sticks, the carrot and a few raisins.
Soon we had to leave.We drove home in the white and green cars.

I have been working on making my writing more descriptive.
I want to improve my writing by: making it look like a real story.

Responsibility

I was responsible when I baked one of the children  a cake. On Thursday I broke his thumb.At first I was very nervous, then I got braver. It was very scary and embarrassing when I came into class to give him the sorry cake to him. I was worried that I was going to be teased by some girls ( that I liked him.) That afternoon I felt better a lot better. I think responsibility is a great thing when you own up to something. Maybe baking a cake or doing something nice.

Writing Term1

WILF:  I use a mixture of short and joined sentences in my writing.  Sometimes use sentences with conjunctions at the start.

  • I sometimes use different sentence forms deliberately to get the reader’s attention.

  • I use ‘tense’ (past, present or future) correctly.

  • I use capital letters, full stops, exclamation marks and question marks correctly without being reminded..

  • I sometimes use list commas, apostrophes for contractions and speech marks.


Writing Task:

Think back to a really special experience you have had.   It might be a birthday, a family dinner or a trip somewhere.  Write a recount about it.

Starter sentence:

It started out just like any other day.


It was a boring grey morning.'My sister and I  were slightly disappointed.'

"No interschools," my sister moaned.

When we got school I asked Mrs Cornelius,"is the interschools", " yes",she replied

We sat down at the sun shelter.

Now we were at the village pools.I waited a while , and then my race was called out.

I heard chears, and then I heard my name, but it was too late the race began.

The water was sloshey and wet.It stang my toes, as I frantically paddled along the water.

Finally, I was at the end of the pool.
